Does my baby has a hay fever?

Hay fever symptoms in babies and toddlers are exact same as for adults. You can notice it by seeing your little one:

  • Sneezing a lot, especially when they are outside
  • Having a constant runny nose, with clear snot, rather than normal yellowy-green
  • Rubbing their eyes, which are red, watery, itchy and puffy

If these symptoms occur outside the hay fever season, which is spring & summer, then it might mean that your little one has allergy to dust mites or pet hair. If this is the case, we suggest you to opening your windows and washing fluffy toys more often.

What can I do to prevent it?

It might be impossible to prevent it 100%, however there are some tips to help to reduce your little one’s suffering.

  • Check pollen forecast regularly from metoffice.gov.uk . When it’s close to level 50, it might be good idea to keep your child away from gardens, park and other grassy areas. However it’s safe to enjoy the nice weather at the seaside.
  • After you’ve been outside, it’s a good idea to change your little one’s clothes and wash their face, hair and hands with cool water to remove the pollens.
  • A bodysuit, a brimmed hat and sunglasses are the perfect way to protect your little one while outside. Why don’t you try our new Baby Bear Hat made from breathable material, which helps to keep your little one's head warm and comfortable while making them hopelessly cute.
